Improv is the Gateway Drug to Creative Risk Taking

A few years ago I asked a handful of students for testimonials. Devin, someone I’ve worked with on a regular basis since 2019, gave me this gem:

Whenever I mention to someone that I’m taking improv classes, they say “I
could never do that.” I tell them that I can’t do it either, but I’m doing it anyway.

A lot of people that understand the life changing benefits of learning improv will never try it. They assume that they “could never do that.”

It’s exhausting to organize your life in a way that you never experience failure, isn’t it?

I encourage more people to be like my student Devin — someone who experimented with a challenging art form despite his lack of experience. Despite feeling like he might not be “good” at it for a while.

The funny thing* about learning improv is you’ll gain the confidence to continue taking creative risks.

You’ll be less shy speaking in public.

You’ll be more likely to show your work.

You’ll make more meaningful connections.

Your personal and professional life will completely change.

(*Also the funny thing about learning improv is that you’ll actually learn comedy in the process)

I love teaching people improv. I love watching them realize that they actually can do this. But what I love even more than that is seeing what they do with the material.

I’m running a free class next week (October 25) if you want to get a sample of how my online classes work. Register here.

Inspired to jump in right now? Here’s the link to join my membership. It’s just one class a month. A total game changer.
